Yesterday I upgraded my iPhone 3GS to IOS 4 and I have to admit I really appreciate a number of the enhancements. I’d highlight the unified inbox, messages organized by thread, and folders as the top 3 new features. Compared to scrolling multiple desktops, the organization of apps into folders is a vast improvement in usability.

The grouping apps into folders reminded me of the Program Manager from Windows 3.1.

Folders seem to be a solid example of an old forgotten model delivering value in a new way. Nice job Apple – I’m anxiously awaiting the delivery of the iPhone 4.
