VMworld 2012: STO2980 vSphere Storage Best Practices

-

Community session

This session was one of the two ‘community’ sessions I submitted for VMworld. I refer to these sessions as community because they are meant to speak to a subject in a vendor neutral perspective. I’d like to thank Chad Sakac; over the past 4 or 5 years he and I have jointly presented at VMworld events and the feedback from these sessions has been outstanding.

As I shared in “NetApp Rocks VMworld2012!“, STO29080 was rated the #2 Best Session of VMworld 2012 by VMworld attendees!

Session STO29080 was the “Storage Best Practices” session, which is truly vendor neutral, balanced and open. We put a lot of effort in the creative process to ensure the content contains a dash of ‘EMC flavour’ mixed with a dash of ‘NetApp colour’, which when combined makes for a lot of fun to present!

Inevitably we always ‘overpack’ our slides with a volume of content that is impossible to present in 60 minutes. We do so intentionally knowing the content will be made available to the community. You can download the presentation here.

Sto2980

Chad and I try to focus on key elements and settings that are universal while noting areas of important variation. This approach should be apparent in our opening… ‘Read the key VMware and Storage Vendor documents’.

Watch the video, download the slide deck and share your thoughts in the comments section. I am always looking for input to bring into next year’s session!
