The VMware and NetApp Trial: Eval on a Software Only Infrastructure

February 15, 2013 by Vaughn Stewart 1 Comment

At VMworld 2012 NetApp released Data ONTAP Edge, their first software-base Virtual Storage Array (VSA). Edge provided a platform for innovation, enabling customers a new palette upon which to develop and deliver IT services. In the spirit of innovation NetApp and VMware have teamed up to release the VMware and NetApp Trial, a test-drive of our products to let you experience the simplicity, value and elegance of our joint solutions for the vCloud Suite… on a software only infrastructure!

Why is this unique? It’s 100% software driven – you can evaluate the entire vCloud suite including vSphere, vCenter, vCenter Operations Manager and Site Recovery Manager running on NetApp Data ONTAP with OnCommand Systems Manager and the VSC plug-in. The platforms fully support vStorage APIs and highlight NetApp data management, storage efficiency technologies and more! The Trial only requires a single physical server and can non-disruptively be migrated from an evaluation to a production environment at any time.

If you’ve yet to virtualize your infrastructure, yes you know who you are, or maybe are saddled managing a complex environment that doesn’t run VMware on NetApp, here is an easy way to experience the unmatched simplicity and efficiency of our joint architecture.

If you have virtualized but haven’t advanced your business continuance strategy – possibly due to concerns around cost or complexity, here’s your chance to do so in a simple and affordable way. The Trial can help you to establish and validate our disk-to-disk backup and disaster recovery capabilities.

The best part, everything you can do with the VMware on NetApp Trial, can be accomplished and more with NetApp hardware. A FAS array provides additional capabilities to Data ONTAP including array clustering, software defined storage profiles, compression, HA, Fibre Channel and FCoE connectivity.

So what are you waiting for? Simply register to begin. We have demo videos spanning setup to SRM, vCOPs to dedupe, and much more. Here’s how to start your VMware and NetApp Trial.

Hey Vaughn what videos do you have showing how to set up the VMware and NetApp trial? Probably easier than following manuals.
